Who Likes To Clean A Shower?

It seems that few people enjoy the chore of cleaning showers and tubs. While the final outcome might be appreciated, the process often is not, particularly for someone like me who has back issues. This tends to result in delaying the task, which only compounds the difficulty. Additionally, the sneezing and wheezing triggered by commercial cleaners have pushed me to seek alternatives made from readily available household ingredients. And that's when I stumbled upon a fantastic shower cleaner recipe!
This recipe is straightforward and utilizes common items found at home:
- 1/2 cup of dish soap
- 1 1/2 cups of vinegar
- 25-30 drops of essential oils
To prepare, simply combine all the ingredients in a spray bottle—glass is preferable for storage. Remember to shake the bottle before each use. Apply the mixture liberally to the shower, tub, tiles, faucets, and glass doors. Let it work its magic for a minimum of 30 minutes, or even overnight if necessary. Scrub as needed, then rinse off with hot water.
I appreciate this cleaning solution because it's gentle on most types of showers and tubs, though it's important to avoid using it on granite or marble surfaces, as the vinegar can cause damage. My go-to tool for scrubbing is a crocheted, circular scrubby made from special yarn, which I prefer over scratch pads that might dull and scratch the surfaces, making future cleanings more challenging. Sarah from oneessentialcommunity.com shared this excellent cleaner, and it has been a game-changer for me. It's the inspiration behind our own essential oil cleaning blend.
